Recent Work : RUNGRL

I mean, come on. How dope do these ladies look?

So full disclosure, "Recent Work" is a bit of a stretch and I've been majorly absent from this blog. A goal of mine is to get back to highlighting work, happenings and general musings on this platform again, and what better way to kick back off than with this project! The amazing ladies behind RUNGRL, a recently launched organization aimed at highlighting, encouraging and supporting female runners of color, reached out in December 2017 for our first shoot (which was incredibly fun) and we followed up with a second shoot a few weeks later.

We met down by The Wharf for this shoot, and even though it was freezing outside, they absolutely killed it. A HUGE congrats to these bad-asses for launching their platform last week, and for going out and bringing their vision to life.

Working with Cait Sherrick of Leocadia K.

This may sound ultra-millenial of me, but I really think the internet is such a magical place. It keeps you connected with those you love, but especially for this generation of creatives, it can be a serious tool for connecting. Case and point- my collaboration with Cait Sherrick, design maven behind the jewelry brand, Leocadia K. After following her Instagram account, and lusting after all of her gorgeous work, I was so excited to be able to work with her and shoot some of her pieces!  As Cait said, "Leocadia K. is a destination for women who want accessories and gifts that reflect their unique style, inner free spirit and fresh perspective on life".

Not only did we get to play with these gorgeous pieces, my gorg. models and I got to shoot in heaven on earth.. or at least heaven on H Street. If you haven't been to tour the Apollo, the new luxury apartment building on the historic H Street corridor, seriously stop whatever you're doing and go. Each and every design element is so purposeful and thoroughly curated, you won't believe your eyes. AND there's a Wydown coffee shop attached to their lobby... I don't know why anyone who lives there would ever leave.

Thanks so much to my lovely models on this project, Kara and Morgan!

Working with Designs by s.e.K

Collaborating with local creatives is one of the biggest reasons I love living and working in D.C. The community here is so vibrant and it's exciting to be able to work with some really amazing entrepreneurs. Case and point: Designs by s.e.K! I worked this year with Sarah, of Designs by s.e.K; an amazing jewelry line made right here in the District. Sarah and I met as so many of us to - on the 'gram! Who would have thought that a little IG liking and messaging would have turned into this great working relationship!

I photographed and styled Sarah's Spring line and I even got an opportunity to bring some of her jewelry to Panama, and use a friend as my model to get some great beauty shots. Honestly, one of the most fun projects I've worked on to date! Sarah's jewelry has an emphasis on natural stones and beads and they photographed beautifully in the beach scenes we shot in Panama. I can totally see this jewelry being a perfect summertime staple, especially as many of the necklaces are versatile; you can wear them long or wrapped, for a layered look! Check out Designs by s.e.K and get your hands on these pieces before they're gone!
